To help continue the story where the recording left off, joining the original group of artists will be Baltimore favorites Todd Marcus, Warren Wolf, Paul Bollenback, and local hip hop star Jackson Ezekial.

Each piece highlights experiences of Bartz’s life and the tremendous impact of musical artists in the urban setting around him. He pays homage to the musical greats who influenced him and to the physical world around him in the city.. Musical passages dedicated to hustlers and street vendors blend with improvisations by the Baltimore natives performing the work and sharing their own personal experiences. Themes of economic divide and social justice can be heard within the soulful, yet postmodern passages.

Bartz was described by jazz critic Stanley Crouch as "one of the very best who has ever picked up the instrument." He has recorded more than 40 solo albums and over 200 as a guest artist. He won a Grammy Award in 2005 for his playing on McCoy Tyner 's album, Illuminations.

Bartz was awarded the BNY Mellon Jazz 2015 Living Legacy Award, presented at a special ceremony at The Kennedy Center. He currently teaches at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio, when he’s not touring.
